A Romantic Wedding at Desert View in Apache Junction, Arizona
There’s something about an Arizona wedding that just hits differently — warm desert light, wide-open views, and a day that can feel both laid-back and completely unforgettable.
Amber and Spencer’s wedding at Desert View was exactly that. Their day was full of the kind of moments I love photographing most: the big, obvious ones, of course, but also all the little pieces happening in between. The hugs before the ceremony, friends gathering together, quiet looks across the room, and the moments that unfold naturally when no one is thinking about the camera.
Amber and Spencer’s story started the way a lot of good Arizona love stories do: country dancing. They met on the dance floor, connected over their faith, and eventually found themselves planning a wedding that felt relaxed, joyful, and completely true to who they are.
Spencer is originally from Idaho, while Amber’s Arizona roots shaped so much of the feel of the day. Their wedding at Desert View brought together family and friends for a celebration that felt warm, personal, and full of the little moments that make a wedding memorable long after the day is over.
The Moments I Keep Coming Back To...
One of my favorite parts of the ceremony was watching Amber walk down the aisle toward Spencer. Her sister Nicole stood beside her as maid of honor, and you could feel how much the people surrounding them genuinely loved and supported them. Their faith was such a natural part of the day too — not something added in for tradition, but something clearly woven into the way they love each other and the community around them.
After the ceremony, the whole evening shifted into celebration mode. The reception was full of dancing, big laughs, and the kind of energy that makes it impossible to stay on the sidelines. Gilbert from Genuine DJs kept the dance floor going all night and even handed the DJ booth over to the bridesmaids for a little while, which was easily one of those chaotic, hilarious moments that you could never perfectly plan.
A Documentary Approach to an Arizona Wedding Day
That’s what I loved most about photographing Amber and Spencer’s wedding. There were beautiful portraits and all the classic moments you expect from a wedding day, but so much of their gallery is made up of what happened in between — the hugs, reactions, movement, laughter, and people simply enjoying being together.
My approach to wedding photography is always a balance of documentary storytelling and intentional direction. I want couples to have photographs that feel polished and timeless, but I never want the day to feel like one long photoshoot. Amber and Spencer’s wedding was the perfect example of how those two things can exist together.
A Little Love for the Vendor Team
So many talented people helped bring Amber + Spencer’s day together, and I always love getting to work alongside vendors who care just as much about the experience as the details. From the florals to the music to everything happening behind the scenes, it all came together so beautifully.
